By Riana Jicha

Her honesty strikes through the bitterness of reality. Formations of life transfigure into one. Uncertainty rises as she does. The blend of today and tomorrow cascades through the night. The moon and the stars declare His glory. The celestial light illuminates her past and spotlights the future. Images hasten past as memories; are they past lives or the hope for tomorrow? Photographs of unreliability are precarious whirlwinds that carry her soul. She is an embodiment of yesterday, with hope for tomorrow. Fleshed out and brisk, she is here for a lifetime, and gone before it begins.

She stands still in the grass; a train leaves behind her. Its wheels shake and scream; the sound whips around her ears. The past and future collide at once, trains that look no different but carry their own cargo. Faceless apparitions arise from the carnage, each past life wandering. Their presence is known by footprints in the grass. She does not notice when it heals and arises once more. Her eyes are fixed above, irises blued with the expansion of the heavens. A past life that cannot be lived cannot be begun. Her gaze continues forward, ever gleaning for new beginnings.
