WATER
The man behind me in lidl
said something to me.
“Sorry I didn’t catch that .” I said
“Can I ask you a question?” He said.
“Sure.”
“Do you know that God loves you?”
“I hope so.” I said and realized why on this awful day I had come to lidl for water
GRANDFATHER CLOCK
I lay here in bed
the tick tock of the shadow of time hangs over me.
And my thoughts again turn to my mother.
How she loved grandfather clocks
eventually when she had enough money she bought one
but it was a newly built one
no history or time under its belt.
She never looked at the new one but always dreamt of the old
Nostalgia hanging from its pendulum.
