it’s time to devour your time on Earth--

to regain consciousness
so you can notice all the beautiful details
life has to offer you
in its flowers and tears and love---

to look up with wonder at the stars
and down with wonder at the earth
and not, for another second
at your “doe eyes” that you wish were “siren eyes”--

to smell the flowers: not
because anyone told you that you should
but because you appreciate them
for all their magnificent delicateness--

to put down your phone
and watch as the sky embroiders itself before you
in a million vibrant threads
that you would have thought were gray--

to listen as you sing yourself
into existence once again
in an ever changing melody
that doesn’t have to rhyme--

to appreciate
the cacophonous pit of silence
and put down the shovel
with which
you endlessly
try
to
fill it.
