By Tim Law

Sheep, ram, little lamb
I am a pleaser, oh yes, I am
Trying through childhood
To do what you say
To gain your approval each passing day

Yes, sir, no, sir
Three bags full
My mind is confused
As my heartstrings you pull
Bamboozling me with your brand of bull

Now you have left me
I open my eyes to see
Nothing that I ever did
Could ever make you truly happy
Why try when it is easier to lie or even simply die

But family and friends
Show me this is not how our story ends
I care not if you return with tail drooping
Seeking amends
I hope that your sorrow never ever mends

Sheep, ram, no longer a lamb
I guess I’m still a pleaser, but no more a sham
No longer a child
I try everyday
To be my own person, to live life my way
