It smothers you as gravity suddenly thickens Its weight presses against your chest Your heart suddenly aches It stifles you as your lungs gasp for air Your head’s underwater The surface seems so far away It cripples you as muscles tense and spasm Your movements heavy, sluggish Water much like honey Strength slowly escapes you It consumes you as darkness settles in Thoughts tangle and confuse you A flood of emotions wash over you Their waves disorient and it takes you over completely It exposes you as the challenge has been set Fight or flight The moment of truth It emboldens you as you breathe through it Deep and consistent You’re already above water Concentrate It humbles you as you come to realize You overwhelm yourself with doubt Drown yourself in fear Harden your resolve It informs you that thoughts can be empty Feelings can be fleeting These things don’t define you Let them wash over you Swim through The currents are strong Keep going. Keep pushing You have the strength You have the will You’ll soon find land again as you rise to your feet Draw in your next breath Look up to the sky Bask in the warmth of the sun

Mathew, you went very deep for this one. Yours is the most accurate of feelings/emotions I’ve seen to describe this subject. Congrats!
