By Julia Vaughan

Huge biscuits
Beige and round
Baked at Woolies

Daubed red and white
Cranberries and choc-chips
Dough still soft in the middle

Christmas treats
Who’s worried about
Diabetes or being obese

Way too sweet
A once-a-year treat
Naughty but scrumptious!

Julia Vaughan moved to Australia with her husband in 1989.  After discovering inspiring U3A Surf Coast (Victoria, Australia) “I just don’t get poetry” classes, she tentatively began writing poetry in 2021.  Having her class-mates encouragement, she has had some poems published, dotted sparsely across the internet.  Julia now dreams of becoming an accomplished poet.  When not dreaming, she loves walking on the beach with her husband and two Vizslas.

Julia’s poems have appeared in :- Otoliths (Nov 2021 and Sep 2022), Melbourne Culture Corner (Nov 2021), Writing In A Woman’s Voice (Feb 2022), Mad Swirl (Feb and Jul 2022, May 2023), Academy of the Heart and Mind (Jul 2022 and Mar 2023), Ariel Chart (Jun and Jul 2022), Bluepepper (Jul 2022), Lothlorien (Jul 2022), Green Ink Poetry (Jul 2023)
