let the bedbugs bite / and the pain
won’t melt into discomfort / hopefully /
because ignorance / isn’t bliss over here /
turn a blind eye / and tempt yourself /
now hurry before / those five words /
snake into that / deeply nestled mind
and say / who are we / to spoil
and consume and blight / those
tarnished dreams / bite down
Leonardo Chung is a young and passionate writer who finds inspiration in both his life experiences and his vivid imagination. His love for poetry has led him to draw inspiration from esteemed poets such as Langston Hughes, Naomi Shihab Nye, and Louise Gluck, as he continues to refine his craft. Currently enrolled at Phillips Exeter Academy, Leonardo has attended several prestigious programs including the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio, Sewanee Young Writers’ Conference, and Juniper Summer Writing Institute. His outstanding work has been recognized and published by Sheila-Na-Gig, Sweet Lit, Vermilion, riverSedge, Adelaide, Clackamas Literary Review, Red Weather, Across the Margin and several others.
