The Vultures Are Circling

a villanelle

Their thirst is burning
not waiting on the bodies of the dead
The vultures are circling

flesh is for the yearning
will not stop until they are fed
Their thirst is burning

Weakness is where they are engaging
control is how they are bred
The vultures are circling

skin is not even bleeding
their eyes see red
Their thirst is burning

they will not stop until feeding
the soul feels the dread
The vultures are circling

no one can see the reaping
when you believe your spirit is ahead
Their thirst is burning
The vultures are circling

Sorcerer of Death

He waves his magic wand.
Believes it has all the power
to control his supporter’s minds.
They do not see the sinister.

He has everyone believing
that treachery is the only way.
Destruction to paths of many.

He waves his hands
to take and destroy homes,
leaving the innocent homeless,
crying, looking for the missing
that may not be breathing.

Rubble of bodies.
Parts lining cracked streets,
blood draining into the ground.

He thinks he has honour and grace.
A person with all the power
that cowardly hides,
waving his wand
as a Sorcerer of Death.
