By James Diaz

talk little ant

of your abandon
was it winter in your shell
upturning Saturn’s orbit
palm to heel
woozy following me home
band aid kisses
honey this was me at my best
shaking, through the sheets
fresh off the line
tunnels in my flesh
i wasn’t praying right
oh body where do i put you
little lost leaf
nothing to hold you still
here, i scoop you up
into my heart
I know where you’ve been
I can feel the heat in your veins
darling, i want you whole
and safe, i want you even when you are breaking
and you are always breaking
