Before I met you
I was just some
hyperthermophile
in a Morning Glory Pool
When we did hook up
we became a batch
of sea lettuce
harboring green algae
Then we slept together
and realized we
turned red, produced
a calcium carbonite cement
As we committed
we evolved into
a mangrove swamp
holding sediments
Now we’re Portuguese
man-of-war with
specialized polyps for
feeding and reproduction
In the future
our relationship will be
Nemertean ribbon worms
sixty meters long
Everyone else are
sharks and rays
sporting ampullae
of Lorenzini
