Where we together when we ate that cheese?
That one that pooled on our tongues
And made them curl in concentration
Around its tangy sting?
Where you there when we ate that cheese?
Shooting down a summer breeze
With chunks of bread so soft
They melted in our mouths
And took the bitter edge away.
Were we together when we ate that cheese?
The one that melted in the basket
And dribbled down our sleeves.
You licked it off my arm,
Hidden in tall grasses.
Was it you, when we had that cheese?
Down among the autumn leaves
A summer passed on picnic rugs,
Was that you, my love?
