By Sara Kaufman
What a privilege it is
to see this world
through the wonder of a poet
and the wander of a nomad
traveling at thirty kilometers per second
around the light of our world
It all started with fission
some call it fiction
but I once watched a heart split in two
After all
we all grew
from the same molecules
Do you remember when you were water?
I like to think I do
My soul still roils in the sunlight
‘till my irises swirl
in the incandescent heat of a sun
of a star
I cast a wish last night
and I can’t tell you what it is
but it begins with you and me
and them
and us
and those between
We were all water once
and will be once again
but until then
We’re nomads
