By Frances Leitch

The earth smiles with the rise of the sun, a light feeling growing over hill and valley and ocean blue.  Blue skies overhead, flowers sprouting, plant grow, and leaves of trees drinking in the sun’s rays of renewal, a new day.

Fire Light

The morning’s
flaming tail
whisks the night away
As copper caverns open
and sapphires and rubies
spill out of the clouds
Light growing strong and bright
Emerald hills of dawn
Scattered in diamond
and amber hued
flower crown
The sun rise
from behind
the veil of night
Bathes the morn
in early light

Sun Rise

In the wee wee
hours of morn
Rise the sun’s rays
over the earth forlorn
Over the tree stand, stoutly
Over the river flow
coursing in its journey
to the sea
Over wildflower petals
spreading to the sun
As the furry raccoon’s
burrowed head
Pops up
to catch the dawn
Swimming across
the earth’s face
Day rolls on

Flowers Grow

Flowers sprout
In the rocks
By the sea
Leather skinned
From the seashore wind
Bushy cheeks
of lively hue
Sunlit
Near sea grew
By the water
By the wind’s eye
By the surf pounding
By and by

Sun Light

The sunlight
in the tree of green
The gentle waters
flowing stream
The tinkling bells
birds sing
The smile
flowers bring
A butterfly rests
Its flapping wings
From the wind
of time passing
Drink the sun
life’s renewal done

Feeling that life is in nature’s palm, I’ve spun nature poems of life and its journey since youth.  I’ve also written travel, news, feature, and biographic articles.  In writing and sharing poetry, I hope to pass on nature’s wonder, a kernel of meaning and feeling — that pockets a bit of the sun.
