Please,
Let me remember the scent of the ocean,
Tidal waves crashing against the shore. Bestow
Upon me the remembrance of beautiful things,
The remembrance of long ago.

Please,
Let me remember the sight
Of the ripple effect-
The knowledge: that peace in such smiles are everlasting, the law
Of conservation of energy, our kindred spirits
Will feel those smiles.

Please,
Let me remember the feel of my breath,
Like a fog, autumn wrapping itś chilly fingers
Around my winter coat, pulling it tighter. Please,
Remind me of the moss beneath my feet
The ash-colored roses in my words.

Because sometimes, when i close
My eyes, the whole world can stop
Without warning.
