After Christian Schloe’s digital artwork “Promise of Love”
This morning, I came here
To tell all that I’m setting
My soul-spirit free because
This life is no home for
Her, because she sang her
Beautiful, melodious song
And it hasn’t been enough
To gain her all that she wants
And needs. Instead, I’ve found
You here. I find us. There’s
No magic surrounding us here,
But we are standing so tall
And so high that the clouds
Surround us. We’re such giants
Here that this atmosphere
Reveals the distant stars above
And beyond it. You’re wearing
The bowler hat again—this is
How I’ve come to know you
Thus far due to your profound,
Unwavering courtesies. You’re
Perhaps forever an embracing
Gentleman dressed up for going
Out in this black suit and cravat.
I came here to say it’s all over
For the warbler inside of me.
But your love met me here and
Is now nursing her back to health.
