Shopping Haiku

Going to Marshalls

to buy a gift. Find lipstick
for me. Buy that too.

At Marshalls my phone
rings. It’s the vet. Really? “What’s
up?” I say. Clueless.

Oh. It’s the cute vet
tech I saw there. And now he’s
asking me out. Yikes!

How do I tell him
I don’t like men? Well, I do.
Like men. But not now.

He proposes a
date with our dogs. At Starbucks.
Yeah. I can do that.

I mean, how could I
resist a cute guy with a
Yorkie? Can’t. Just can’t.

I should get Hazel
a new outfit for our date.
More shopping. What fun!

Doggie Date Haiku

Puppuccinos for

Hazel and Sam (the Yorkie).
Two cold brews for us.

I give Hazel part
of my grilled cheese. So pretty.
She is. Her new dress.

The cute guy is nice.
Mark. That’s his name. We like the
same books. This is good.

People compliment
us on our dogs. His Yorkie.
My sweet Chihuahua.

Then Sam bites Hazel.
He hates her. Date over. Oh,
well. At least I tried.
