An Odyssey
on a cold and blustery autumn day the sky is painted a steely gray, flocks of migrant birds take flight, a chartered course far from sight. lines of towering leafless trees bow and bend, submitting to the chilly breeze.
Mosaics of Autumn
Apple pickers gaily riding in wagons, sipping cider along the way, headed for orchards, on a crisp, clear sunny day. Umbrellas turned inside out, when wily north winds blow, and sheets of rain, without refrain, follow me home. Turning leaves, in gold and crimson hues, ignite woodlands and city parks, a spectacular, humbling view. Umber swathes of color, spreading over marsh and field, extinguishing summers palette, bronzing acres, without yield. Mischievous squirrels scamper, hording acorns in winter nests and wooly caterpillars, journey to their rest. Night rises, unfolding a charcoal veil, a choir of crickets chirp, in the chilly autumn air.
Winter Barns
Silos stand like sentinels weathered barn doors creak, cows moo, the snow dances with delight birds find shelter in the arms of eaves
Ice Skating
It seemed like yesterday, the pond rippled in delight, Cold wintry air, set out to spread its plight, Enchanting Mother Nature, cast a spell with frost abound, Silently the waters stilled, forming solid ground. Knitted scarves, mittens and caps, pulled over ears, Axels, loops and flying camels, performed without fears, Traversing each other, squealing shouts of glee, Invoking friendship, joined in camaraderie. Night falls, the wind howls, whisking them away, Good night. It has been a wonderful winter's day!
Melting Snow
A white rabbit sits in my garden A silhouette on high haunches, ears pointed and erect. I gave him an eye for viewing to see the world and reflect. His stay will not be long, leaving not a trace where he had sat. If winter keeps her promise, My white rabbit will be back.
