By Patti Jo Williams
At home I sit, Contemplating the world around me. I am surrounded by people, But still all alone, In the world around me. Why is it that I don’t fit, In the world around me. I try being helpful, I try being nice, In the world around me. Family is distant, Friends non-existent, In the world around me. Home is my refuge, My spouse is my partner, Our pets, companions, In the world around me. Some days are better, Some days are worse, In the world around me. Some days I go out, some days I stay in, all seem the same, In the world around me. Although today I am sad, Tomorrow I may be glad, In the world around me.
