Tanka

hollowed-out tree trunk
haven of feelings unvoiced
lumberjack saws through
prostrate on the floor lies
castrated writers
ghostly orange skies
reflection from angry fires
appetite for war
vacant eyes stare at cereals
on grocery floors

Haiku

grandpa breathed his last
pink dress shrink-wrapped in closet
missed date on prom night

yellow daffodils
mother's turmeric-stained hands
teardrops in cake mix
dogeared stained pages
morning coffee arguments
Tagore, Yeats, Wordsworth
raindrops on glass panes
Amalfi coast holiday
last chemo session
overnight stubble
golden harvested wheat fields
fifty years pen drive
penguin family
sharp ruler hit on knuckles
Nuns in chapel pews
