Somnath

The shrine enshrines
Somnath
The sea sees
Somnath
Waves wave
Somnath
People pray at
Somnath
Mincing mantras of
Somnath
Super splendour at
Somnath
The moon marks
Somnath
Wide vast waves of
Somnath
Speaks splendour of
Somnath
Immeasurable, immense, is
Somnath, Somnath, Somnath….

Sudama

A friend in need is a friend indeed
Sudama was in need

He moved from his place.
To reach Krishna’s palace

He took beaten rice
in his beaten fray

A pauper he was
But a true friend he was

He took something Krishna didn’t have
He looked like something Krishna didn’t have

Krishna took rice in his clutches.
And Krishna gave him riches.

Sudama gave him love.
Sudama filled him with love.

Love transcends all
Love immerses all

Vikramaditya

Vikramaditya wanted to come to life
To see his place after long,
he belongs to Ujjain, that he longs...

The bank of Kshipra is littered with gutter
The algae rule the river, and garbage clutter

Devotees, without devotion for the river
Have their forehead smear
Don’t fear for the life-giver

People are in just clothes.
Without thoughts and values

A great injustice
to the just king Vikramaditya
Who is known for his justice

He knew that people will change
But didn’t think they will change
the river too…..

The flow of the river reflects the flow of life
And the flow of the river is reflecting
Dirt, filth, slime, muck,
Reflecting life too…..
