Take it back

Every last word

Every hurtful statement

Every glare

Every bit of silence

The desire to hurt

And inflict pain

I take it all back

I didn’t mean it

I shouldn’t have done it

I wish I could take it back

I would

If I could

But I can’t

I have hurt you

I have scorned you

I have damaged you

I ask for forgiveness

That you are not able to extend

I wonder if you ever

Will forgive me

Maybe you shouldn’t

Because what I did

What I said to you

You didn’t deserve

Don’t forgive me

I don’t deserve it

Even though I take it all back
