The Untranslatable

This is a series of poems of words that do not directly translate into English. I have tried to capture the essence of the word in a poem.

The ocean, despite our efforts, is a structureless plane

Open to the refracted light on the lunar surface

Casting a reflection even more beautiful than Narcissus’

Every night when the waves ease into the shore—

The highway of sailors and merchants.
