By John Patrick Robbins

She read the words and wondered why they could never be about her.

Why the stories that made publication never did include one about her.

He wrote  beautifully about another that wasn’t worth a damn while she remained ignored only to share his bed .

She knew he loved her but it seemed real at least in the moment.

He was distant and harder to read than the best card player she ever saw on TV .

She pressed him he eventually blew up and slammed the door behind.

He never said goodbye he just was no longer around.

It had been almost a month when she saw he had a new write in a magazine that often published his work.

The story was about her it was sharp his humor cut like a knife.
She cried at the end

For he saved his goodbye for the page.

And it was clear he wasn’t coming back.

She never cared to see herself in the pages reflection again.
