In philosophy class students
Scratch their heads at a box drawn on
The board. The professor draws long
Lines, hoping that the picture warrants
A house with child and his parents
“What can we truly know about
The family? Can you think out
Of our consciousness? Our drawing
Could be or not be existing”
Silence, academic brownout
My English teacher tried to use
The story “Beast in the Jungle.”
She tried the usual angle.
It was hard for her to recuse
Our idea that there are some clues
To James’ life. That we accuse
The story of something it was
Not caused quite substantial buzz
In the small room of majors and
Veterans of the subject nor bland
In their wit couldn’t stop because
